Artist Statement: I believe we are all born artists-whether our art be teaching children, healing the sick, helping the Earth. Not until Iturned 35 did I decide to pursue another art form-painting. Although only 35 at the time, I had experienced morethan most had experienced in a lifetime. The first life-altering event was suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm in 1999and undergoing radical surgeries to correct the damage done to my brain. This trauma taught me to leave fear at the door and to be in the moment as much as you can in such a fast-paced society. The second event in my life was themiracle birth of my son, Jakob, in 2005. My husband, Jeff, and I didn't think parenthood was going to be possible after my struggles to regain my health, but another angel was watching over me and blessed us with Jakob.I love to paint plein air, however, I'd like to explore figurative drawing, still life, and portraiture. I belong to a groupwhich meets on Tuesdays called the Band of Brushes. If we're not painting outside, we're at my house painting, drinkingtea and enjoying each other's company. I gain inspiration from light hitting the side of my son's face, the sound of raindrops hitting the roof, as well as a good story told by an old friend. I am so thankful I can paint!
