Gerry Bresnahan's silk scarf painting demo has been canceled two Sundays in a row due to weather. She is now planning to try for the 2nd Sunday in March, which is the 8th. Originally, that date was set aside for photographers and painters to gather and bounce ideas around for the collaborative challenge "Eye of the Beholder". After some discussion it was determined Gerry needed the gallery space more and photographers and painters could begin collaborating , or at least connecting, via e-mail. To refresh your memory, here's the scoop on the challenge: The Eye of the Beholder – collaboration of photographer and painter Drop off May 30th Pick up June 27th Reception June 20th 2-4 Here the challenge is multi-level. It begins with pairing a photographer and a painter. The photographer captures an image. The painter uses this image as reference for a painted interpretation of what the photographer saw. Both works will be hung together. This is bound to elicit much conversation and visual excitement. A few I know of have already paired up and begun collaborating. If you also have a partner for this, please let me know so we begin to have an idea of space needed. If you do not yet have someone to work with but are interested and would like some guidance, I am asking that you send the following info to lostmarbles01@yahoo.com Name ______________________________________________________ e-mail ____________________________________ phone _____________ Photographer ____ Painter ____ Do you have a subject preference? _____ If so, what?_________________________________________________________________________ Photographers, would you be willing to supply a few photos for painters to select from? ______ Painters, would you be OK with just selecting a photo from those submitted? _____ OR, do you wish to meet and work directly with a partner choosing subject, composition, etc.? ____ I will be at the gallery Sunday March 8th from 1:00 - 2:00 for all who are interested in meeting or getting ideas on how to get started. Feel free to contact me with questions if you can't make it that day (lostmarbles01@yahoo.com or 778-3910). I'm really excited about this one, and not just because I'm bored with snow. Mary Jane

A Monotype demonstration will be held on Sunday, April 12th, 2:00 pm at the SAA Gallery, 225 Water St., Exeter, NH. What is a Monotype? Monotype is an intriguing hybrid among printing techniques. It is neither a print nor a painting, but a unique combination of both. The method is named because it is one image (mono), painted or drawn with printer's ink directly on a plate and then transferred to paper. The printing of an image from a clean, un-worked surface results in a quality that is open and free which easily allows innovation. The monotype is a singular image and cannot be replicated. Annick's interest in monotype comes from a love of texture. She achieves depth, color and texture using different ink viscosities painted on a Plexiglas plate which is then passed through an etching press. Annick also likes to use the subtractive method. Images are created in a dark field by lifting the medium from the plate before passing it through the press. Annick's primary interests are Monotype and Watercolor Annick is a member of New Hampshire Art Association; Seacoast Artists Association; Sharon Arts Association. Annick has won numerous awards for both her Monotypes and Watercolors. Her works can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Annick serves as SAA Gallery Manager, located at 225 Water St., Exeter, NH (603)778-8856 Annick Bouvron-Gromek was born in Brittany, France and now resides in Exeter, New Hampshire.
